Create Opportunities

We are not problem solvers, though we do that job quite well. Instead, we see ourselves as finders and searchers of opportunities latent in a site, project brief, or design situation. We seek to unlock hidden potential in every situation, with the goal of achieving more than one objective wherever possible.

Make Friends

We search for common ground, shared passions and experiences to connect with everyone we work with. We look for opportunities to collaborate, and help elevate designers, craftspeople, artists, and advocates in our community. We try to build teams through understanding and appreciating what everyone brings to the table, and utilizing our collective strengths.

Tell stories

We always strive to make a thing more legible, whether that be the forces carrying through a structural system or the path of the sunlight through a room, or the migratory patterns of buffalo on the great plains. Every place and project has a story to tell, and we strive to make that story legible through design.

Communicate

We pride ourselves on clear, concise and inspirational communication. We prefer to communicate with drawings and models more than words. We strive to create open lines of communication with our clients, consultants and the craftsmen and contractors we work with.

Celebrate Craft

We regularly work with our hands and bring with us a range of experiences in construction, carpentry, and the arts. We believe this affords us a knowledge of how materials behave and come together, and a respect for the trades and craftspeople who make each project what it is. We believe the success of a project relies on the mutual respect of contributors on and off the construction site, of multiple voices coming together throughout the life of the project

Make Good Places

We know that a project that is loved and cared for by its users, owners, and community will outlast one that is not. Therefore we believe good design and flexible spaces are essential to sustainable projects. We design with the mindset that every decision is an opportunity to use passive strategies, seek sustainable solutions, and use durable, long-lasting and ethically sourced materials. At the end of it all, we want to know that we are leaving a world better than we found it.
